1/6/2010 9:34:00 AM Russell K. Hartzell Russell K. Hartzell, 74, of 1016 Hancock, died at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Dec.18, 1935, in Piqua to the late Frank and Ilene (Peterstein) Hartzell.
He married Dorothy E. Scamahorn on April 4, 1954, in Piqua; she preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2001. He then married Peggy A. (Mowery) Brown on March 5, 2002; and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Hartzell of Piqua; three daughters, Brenda Browning of Versailles, Debra (Steven) Noto of Durango, Colo. and Cheryl Hartzell of Lima; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Virginia Creager of Piqua; and two stepchildren, Darlene Brown, and Kim (Donald) Osborne, all of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hartzell, three brothers, and a sister.
Mr. Hartzell attended Piqua City Schools and worked as a meat cutter at Dinner Bell Foods for 30 years. He attended Friendship Baptist Church, served in the Ohio National Guard. He enjoyed flea markets and vintage bicycles.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip De Lorme officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
